The project was initiated as collaboration with BASF, to investigate the opportunity for new application areas, or products, regarding their plastic material Ultradur. Since Ultradur is a heat resistant material I wanted to make a product that communicates that asset.
My goal has been to produce a minimalist iron that communicates simplicity in the way that it’s been striped down to the essentials.
The iron is cordless and works with induction heating. Induction heating uses an electromagnetic field to transform the energy directly, and purely heats the surface of the product that touches the fabric.
